Why You and All Other Humans Are Set to Succeed Only Through Self-Growth
“As Socrates long observed ‘true
wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life,
ourselves, and the world around us. Truthfully,
human beings are by nature designed to be always in the ascendance in terms of
their development and advancement, relative to the evolving environment of
habitation. This is because nothing, in
human life, stays the same for any prolonged period, and hence every individual
must continue to learn to effectively manage themselves well against any
changes in life. It is unequivocal that
whatever we know today, or at any given moment in life, is only a tiny fraction
of what is there that we need to know.
Hence, we can never know enough, but we must necessarily strive to know
more.
Whatever we
know about what matters most to life today is far much more than what we knew
decades and centuries ago, but also far much less than what we need to know now,
and in the future to come. Whether it is
about best educational programmes, best work practices, best human development
initiatives, or causes of diseases and best remedies etc. etc., we are still
very much on a learning curve, and there is need for us as humans to accelerate
our efforts to manifest that future we desire, which is a future defined by the
conditions of peace, love, joy and happiness.
There is only one way for humanity to reach that future desired, and
that way is by embracing the principle of education, and the first step
requires that we all, at our individual levels, commit to the learning process
to advance our being. If we can
understand ourselves better (i.e. who we are and what we are here for), then we
stand a better chance to comprehend life and the world around us”
Why You and All Other Humans Are Set to Succeed Only Through Self-Growth!
"Unless you try to do
something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow. Every job
is a self-portrait of the person who did it......Autograph your work with excellence”
Creativity As Your Natural Inclination
Think about early days when you were still young and all you cared about
was to go play and have fun with other kids.
You put all your needs before those of your parents and guardians, and yours
was a life with peace of mind. Money was
not something you worried too much about.
Where I grew up in the rural areas of Botswana, we didn’t even know
anything about the kind of toys you buy from shops. Instead, we made our own toys out of wood,
mud, and bits and pieces of sticks, wires etc., and we built what we wanted (!
some little creative minds there). The
games we played were also out of anything we could make or get hold of. I remember one that resembled a javelin-throw
where we used some type of plant that grows tall like grass, and it was very
light and could go the distance when thrown.
There were also some high-jump games across riverbanks and falling into
the riverbed. At such a stage of
childhood creativity and innovation are usually free-flowing, and the driving
force is simply to have fun, joy, and happiness.
When You Abandon Learning You Obstruct Nature’s Intention
It is the same driving force as above that propels us to go through the
formal educational systems (i.e. schools, colleges, universities etc.), to
discover and unleash our truest potential to enjoy life. Things seem to change though when we begin to
put our attention on acquiring/getting material things, such as money and all
it can buy. The earlier creativity and
innovation only remain in a few individuals who continue to commit to the learning
process and try out different ways of doing things. Somewhere along the educational pathway, many
proclaim themselves educated, and cease to develop themselves any further. Sadly, as can be expected, because of
breaking the natural growth equation, if one ceases to activate their creative
and innovative abilities, through continuous and engaging learning exercises,
the view to see alternatives and opportunities to improve the quality of life
(i.e. peace, love, joy and happiness) becomes obstructed. The quality of your decisions and the choices
you pick becomes increasingly poor, and then you do not experience much of the peace,
love, joy, and happiness you desire. Ultimately,
you just feel endlessly stuck and frustrated in life.
A Natural System Getting Stuck Arouses Many Questions Without Answers
If you take a moment to consider the sights and
sounds of society, you get a sense that many people are really stuck and
fearful, regarding jobs, relationships, life in general etc. etc. This so even though we all come from God, and
hence naturally, nobody comes from a disadvantaged family. The questions to ponder then are of the kind:
Are we not all from God? What are we afraid of?
Why did you stop learning? Why do you
give away your power, because this is what makes you feel stuck and
fearful? Why did you only aim for that
certificate/qualification? Is that all
what education is about? What is life
for you? Is having a job, money and
family all you ever wished for? Don’t
you find life to be an intriguing/fascinating experience? How much more would
you like to experience the process of life? Why do you live your life like you
do not expect to go far? Where exactly would you like to reach anyway? Is there
anything you long for? When are you going to act? If you managed to make it
this far, what now has come up that makes you feel you cannot make it any
further?
Growing Whole as The Optimum Level of
Self-Growth
Look at it this way, success begins with you, as an individual. Equally, all our troubles, as society, begins
with you too, when you fail to be decisive and to commit to undertake your
responsibilities. Take note that every
individual is an important part of human-life support structures i.e. family,
workplaces, communities etc., and hence, any failure on your part affects
everyone else. Self-growth, through personal
development, is ever the key to unlock your individual effectiveness, and raise
your personal productivity, so you increase your worth to human-life. To reach the highest level of development you
must strive to grow whole. In other
words, you must attain equidimensional growth in terms of the critical aspects that
defines a human being. Such refers to
the physical, mental, and spiritual realms of who you are, and as well the natural
environment of habitation or existence. Physical growth (the
most familiar), including aging over time, is only an indicator of growing
old. Unfortunately, far too many of us are less assertive when it comes to
addressing the need to develop the mental, spiritual, and environmental
aspects, hence we mostly end up just simply growing old.
A Mark of Real Growth
Is Self-Governance
The essence of
personal development is in the establishment of basic principles of human
effectiveness, such as, a definitive purpose, a vivid vision, a streamlined
mission, and clearly distinctive life roles.
In addition, you must cultivate those core competencies that will allow
you to reach optimum personal productivity.
Amongst these is learning receptivity (i.e. totally embracing the
learning process or education), knowledge response (i.e. putting to good use
what you have learned), self-starting or being at cause (i.e. 100% commitment
to creativity and innovation), and being proactive (i.e. action-oriented) to
put good knowledge and skill into use.
You do all this not because you want to make lots of money, which you
certainly will, but to create the conditions of life we like to experience as
humanity i.e. peace, love, joy, and happiness, which is the epitome of success
in human life!
