How To Inject a Sense of Optimism into Your Life
“When you consider the ‘sights and sounds’ of humanity today, across the globe, the future looks all cloudy and gloomy to see any spark of hope, with regard to the revival of truly humane human relations. No doubt we all want peace, love, joy, and happiness, across all forms of human life settings e.g. family, workplace, community, as well the global village etc. Needless to say, our challenges as humanity seem increasingly overwhelming and less solvable, particularly those concerning human relations. This, for an individual, takes away the juice in the experience of human life, and blunts any hope for a better future. Arguably, the only foreseeable future advancements and growth is in the roles of modern technology and related gadgets, but never about improved human relations and unity. Nevertheless, as an individual, you must never despair because you have what author and holocaust survivor Victor Frankl, from his book ‘Man’s search for meaning’, termed ‘the last of the human freedoms’, essentially, the ability to choose how you want to feel under any circumstances. So, when you find the going getting tougher try to figure out a way to inject a sense of optimism, to get around challenges and make it possible to head your preferred way in life”

Possibilities in The Lighter Side of Life
Despite
the overwhelming situations of modern human lifestyles, there’s always that
lighter side of life. You don’t really
have to let yourself get stuck under any of life’s ever-unfolding loads of
challenges. As Marie Forleo, author and
creative influencer, always advise, everything in life can be figured
out. In fact, she published a book titled "everything is
figureoutable". I personally have
over the years, during my own exploration of what life holds for the traveller
i.e. along the journey of life, figured out ways to make the most out of my
moment of existence on Earth. Rather than just see my life through the
set-up of an employed graduate, looking to work for a salary, and hoping for
some great life experience, I figured out it would be more fulfilling, for me,
not to end it just there, as an employee in my trained professional field of
geology. Once I had such thoughts, I
began to sense other possibilities of progressing my life than just take a long
break, from advancing my human self, and wait for my ultimate retirement from
employment. I always felt there had to be another, even more fulfilling
stage of life, beyond formal employment.
Contemplate
A Higher Purpose for Your Being
The
thing that made more sense to me was learning more about myself, beyond
technical subjects like mathematics and chemistry, but to explore my inner
natural abilities to self-organise and create the conditions of life I wish to
experience. There's a story that caught my attention, which Dr. Wayne
Dyer, my most influential teacher, used to share many times.... about a man who
lying on his death bed wondered if his life had been a true reflection of his
desires in human life. I have never wanted to just go back where we came
from before I took the challenge of committing fully to life, my way, and not
just as expected at my employment work. I think the opportunity to exist
in life is beyond any size, cannot be compared with anything, it is priceless.....and
I believe it's a one-off opportunity that should not be allowed to pass without
engaging your own natural gifts or talents at a greater and higher level than
just at the level of being an employee in someone else's organisation.
Recognise And Take-on
Opportunities for Self-Introspection
So, I
got an opportunity during my public service days to learn about strategic
planning, and I used the wisdom to develop my own personal strategic
plan. The plan is my constitution of life and helps me to self-organise
and manage myself, as well as my critical resources, like time and money,
effectively. Drafting the plan helped me to go deep inside to understand
myself better than before. I had to take myself through a process I
call self-analysis, by asking and answering soul-searching questions, such
as "who am I and what am I here for?", "what is the future I
desire?", "what does success mean to me?", "How can I make
a difference in life?", "How do I want the story of my life to be
like?" etc., etc. I ended up with my personal vision document about
the future I desire, and this is what my busyness in life is all about during
this second half of my life. Inside this document is my strategic
foundations, comprising purpose, vision, mission, principles, values, and my
key effectiveness areas, essentially, my preferred impact areas.
P.S. This
above is how I was able to figure out my pathway beyond employment and my final
retirement moment, and hopefully you can see value in setting up this way.
As part of the second half of my life I am driving my life's mission project,
extracted from my strategic plan, and am helping others to advance their own
lives through motivational education on personal development. My vision
is to see individuals managing to live life effectively and hence making it
possible for humanity or the human species to make reality out of our common
vision of peace, love, joy and happiness. This is the challenge I have
given myself during the second half of my life, as I wind up business on this
beautiful planet of life. So, please do give your support when I come
knocking at your door, like sharing this blog post into your space.
