How Advanced Personal Development is The Damning Missing Link to Both Human Development and Service Delivery!

How Advanced Personal Development is The Damning Missing Link to Both Human Development and Service Delivery!

People are only able to truly create value when they respond or act on the understanding and knowledge they have.  Similarly, people can only gain an advanced level of understanding and knowledge it they act to expose themselves to a learning forum.  So, there are two critical things needed for one to develop and grow their capacity to succeed in all they do, and ultimately for humanity to thrive.  Firstly, there must be a learning forum that provides relevant lessons for the attainment of an appropriate and needed level of understanding and knowledge.  Secondly, the individual learners must possess the qualities of being proactive or at-cause, and the willingness to utilise their understanding and knowledge acquired.  Between the two needs outlined above, the latter is the most critical to both human development and service delivery, but strangely or weirdly seem the most vividly absent from our schools or conventional education systems.  So, this missing link, which can only be addressed through the introduction of lessons on Advanced Personal Development, is the greatest obstacle to humanity’s capacity to grow, succeed, and thrive, on Earth.  Two of the most affected aspects of human advancement are the areas of human development and service delivery, and here is how:

Human Development

The most critical elements of human development that leads to an individual’s effectiveness in life are those founded on the processes of growth and maturation, and with emphasis on cognitive and social aspects.  In other words, to attain a fully-fledged level of value-addition to life, it is imperative for one to take the path of individualistic/personal development to enhance their effectiveness by learning to bring to surface their natural or intrinsic abilities from within.  Amongst these include the ability to:

ü  Appreciate the need for continuous and life-long learning

ü  Organise one’s thoughts and ideas for value creation

ü  Self-drive and create impactive interventions

ü  Respect and co-exist with others of different views

ü  Create synergistic interdependent relationships

This list is by no means exhaustive, and there are endless other possibilities for the attainment of exceptional growth in personal effectiveness.  However, most people in their individual capacities are not able to proactively expose themselves to lessons of this nature.  So, in the absence of any organised, and preferably formal educational settings, a large section of society lacks in the essential elements of advanced personal development.  The latter, i.e. advanced personal development, is evidenced by individuals that are at-cause, self-led, self-organised, self-managed, and most importantly, live a purposeful and vision-drawn life.  This depicts such a marked sense of order and organisation from which can be expected a greatly enhanced human capacity for growth, success, and thrive.  On the contrary, individuals that have not experienced this level of advanced personal development are more likely to stagnate in their lives, and in the event lead a life embroiled in endless conflicts and struggles.  For that, we see today a world where many have no respect for life, theirs and that of others, which seems to spell doom for the advancement of the human species.

It's not surprising that despite having experienced two devastating world wars, in our short history as a species on Earth, we still find ourselves during these modern times embroiled in many similar catastrophic conflicts.  Our main downfall sparks from failure to cater for advanced personal development in the education system, resulting in many struggling to master such key and critical qualities as self-discipline and the respect for life, amongst others.  People that run low on discipline, or completely lacks discipline, are less likely to respond positively to set principles, rules, and values for effective living.  The outcome of such conduct can only serve to degrade or upset social settings.  As an example, we see often bad driving acts, substance abuse, criminal acts of sorts, lack of vigour and intensity in the learning spaces, and even more disturbing, a total lack of self-care on matters of personal health and wellness maintenance.  The ultimate payoff is a pervasive decline in humanity’s capacity to grow, succeed, and thrive, as a species.

Service Delivery

A workplace life-support-setting, in all aspects, is the focal point for humanity’s production capability, and hence serves as a pinnacle for all-round service delivery for the nurturance of life-giving processes.  Naturally, life demands that we act, each day, to maintain a state of order, organisation, and sustenance, as part of the equation of the processes of living.  So, we can’t just sit, and hope things will happen by themselves to our benefit, but we must step up to create, maintain, or fix right whatever is needed.  Through wisdom, we learnt and understood the value of collective and synergistic support, and hence, developed an organised workplace system of service delivery, for meeting the routine and ever-unfolding demands of human life.  Now, the degree at which workplace processes and plans can function at topmost levels of effectiveness and efficiency, for prolonged periods, and to yield as much service output and productivity as required, is totally tied to the quality of the human component of the workplace of concern.  In other words, all plans and processes of work for service delivery are driven by humans, for them to create value.  Equally, any creative, innovative, or maintenance adjustments etc., that may be required to boost the effectiveness and efficiency of work plans, processes, and equipment, relies entirely on the accountable and responsible person.  The latter, to truly succeed, must have travelled the path of advanced personal development, to become a self-driven and self-led work team-member, who at any moment is able to work under minimal supervision.    Sustained quality service-delivery for optimum workplace productivity requires individuals that are at-cause or proactive, purpose-driven, vision-drawn, self-disciplined, self-organised, self-led, synergistic or team-oriented etc.  These qualities for greater human effectiveness do not form a part of any long-term human development training programmes in our educational systems.  For that, the desired levels of service delivery and workplace productivity remains pretty much a pipe dream, despite endless interventions through mounds of work reform processes.

Given the obvious and clearly visible level of development in technology and other man-made or artificial facets of human-life, it’s all easily deceitful into believing that humans have made great strides in their capacity to grow, succeed, and thrive.  What is closest to the truth though is that only a lesser fraction of humans, possibly 20% as per the Pareto Principle, are genuinely behind such creative and innovative inventions, while the rest are mostly just consumers or users.  Sadly, the lesser creative fraction of humanity, possibly the 80% as per the Pareto Principle, use new inventions in ways that are not any much productive or life changing.  This situation of the Pareto Principle, or 20/80 Rule, also applies to a workplace setting, resulting in large sections of work team-members piggybacking on the efforts of a few of those who are truly and genuinely giving value, who ultimately may become fatigued, frustrated, overwhelmed, and eventually less productive themselves.

Because humanity failed to create any organised learning programmes, specifically directed at the sustenance of the development and growth of quality beings, we see today signs of ineffective leadership, management, and supervision, across the board at work establishments.  For the same reason, we have work team-members that don’t have an exceptional sense of discipline to obey set work rules, procedures, ethics etc.  For example, many work organisations often grapple with habitual and undesirable acts or practices of absenteeism, corruption, theft, procrastination etc., perpetrated by some work team-members.  Notably, and perhaps the biggest hurdle ever, is the reality that most work team-members lack the much-needed zeal, enthusiasm, and commitment in stepping up to the learning process.  Only an insignificant proportion of work team-members take interventional learning programmes seriously, resulting in negligible impact.

P.S. It is my strong held view that humans, at their individual levels, require a focused developmental learning programmes designed to strengthen and advance their abilities to manage and organise themselves.  Given that plans and processes of work are built to be driven by humans, it is imperative therefore that such humans be fully developed to a level where they are able to self-drive and do the necessary, under minimal supervision.  There doesn’t seem to be any other better alternative to reach this level of human effectiveness than through advanced personal development.  Evidently, even the most sophisticated technology of recent times fails to make levels of impact anticipated owing to a missing link in advanced personal development.

P.P.S Thank you so much for taking a moment to read this far and I hope you’ll feel inspired a bit to take a step in setting aside regular time for your personal development.  Just that, I believe, will get us back on track as humanity in a quest to optimize our capacity for growth, success, and thrive, on Earth.
